Background
The story of A Webbing Journey takes place in a large, modern house. However, it is home to a small community of tiny creatures. These are house spiders, with many members living, foraging, and playing throughout the house. And here we meet Silky – a cute little spider who has recently arrived at the house.
Under the guidance of the spider leader Utf, Silky gradually becomes familiar with the different areas of the house and learns survival skills. Although there are no enemies or battles to fight, the spiders in this house are still in danger from unintentional traps such as the electrical system and ceiling fans. Be careful, the game has only just begun, little Silky.
Gameplay
A Webbing Journey is known as an adventure game featuring the little spider Silky in a large house. This game boasts realistic physics simulations, showcasing the spiders’ ability to spin webs. Within the first few minutes, you can quickly become familiar with skills like spinning, cutting, and climbing walls. Using them at the right time can help you solve the puzzles blocking your path.
In this spacious house, you – little Silky – are allowed to do whatever you like. This is a free-form game, so there are virtually no restrictions on your actions. Your job is simply to explore every corner and solve the puzzles before you. It sounds simple, but it will take a considerable amount of time to conquer. Additionally, you can choose a ball or spider form for your character Silky, along with many other interesting cosmetic options.
Areas you can explore on A Webbing Journey
After a few minutes of introductory gameplay, A Webbing Journey takes us to an area within a ventilation shaft with four forks in the road. This could be considered a spider’s crossroads, also the point where you can move to other areas. However, currently the game only allows you to move to three areas. These are:
- Kitchen: Known as a labyrinth with plenty to explore. From a spider’s perspective, everything becomes a challenging terrain. But with your skills, you can drag, drop, or even throw these items to complete tasks.
- Office: A tidy room, but quite dangerous with its electrical system and numerous sharp edges that could send you back to square one immediately.
- Kids Room: A free-spirited space with giant toys. You can use spider webs to activate the toys here and have fun.
Realistic physics experience
After playing for a while, I personally think that A Webbing Journey is so popular probably because the game successfully exploits the physics of spider silk. While the spider silk in the game isn’t 100% realistic, it still possesses the flexibility, tension, and elasticity to withstand force and stretch. Combined with spider skills like shooting, cutting, and creating connections, you can create many incredibly fun actions.
Simply attaching webs to a book and a ceiling fan will make them both spin around in a rather comical way. Of course, you can also hang yourself between the gaps and strike a pose like Spiderman. In general, there’s a lot to do with the physics simulations at A Webbing Journey. With a little exploration and experimentation, you can take control of the entire house.
