As mentioned above, in Merchant of the Skies you play as a novice merchant. With your flying ship, you’ll travel to many different islands to conduct your business. In the game, trade is the central focus – you buy goods on one island and sell them on another to make a profit. Of course, you need to survey the market, calculate fuel costs, storage capacity, and the most optimal route. In general, trading always requires a lot of brainpower.

You can control your aircraft to move across the map and explore new areas. In Campaign mode, we start on Northscar Island, and as you move further, you’ll find several other islands such as Parkford, Cloudclock, Bluekirk, Ravenport, etc. Each island has its own unique products and resource values. However, you won’t be able to see a summary of their information until you’ve visited them.
Build your empire
Surely everyone wants to create their own empire, and the protagonist in Merchant of the Skies is no exception. Here are some tips from us, hopefully they can help you quickly realize this dream:
- Accumulate capital at the beginning of the game: Pay attention to the resources of the islands, employ a buy-low, sell-high strategy, and take short, safe routes.
- Upgrade your ships: When you have enough resources, prioritize upgrading your ships, as larger ships will have significantly increased capacity, speed, and range. Of course, you can also buy more ships to create your own trading fleet.
- Own your own island: Once your fleet grows strong, you’ll need a place for storage, transshipment, etc. At this point, buy strategically located uninhabited islands to do this. This is the first step in transitioning from merchant to producer.
- Build a production chain: To become wealthy, you need to know how to create products. Build factories on your islands, procure raw materials, and transform them into high-value goods. For example, you can create furniture from wood, which is worth much more than wood itself.
- Create a stable, automated system: Establish fixed routes and assign tasks to each ship, such as one ship for purchasing raw materials and another for transporting goods for sale.
- Optimize the system: This is probably the final stage of the game; you’ll need to optimize your system to minimize errors. By this point, your empire will likely have become a true powerhouse.
