Starting in 2026, MT will adopt “2.Year.Month” format for version
numbering.
Previously, we used the “2.MajorVersion Number.MinorVersion Number”
format, where major versions typically represented significant
changes and minor versions were used for bug fixes. However, each
MT update often includes both new features and bug fixes, and may
even introduce new issues, making the “major/minor version”
distinction less meaningful and prone to misunderstanding.
For past few years, MT has maintained a roughly monthly update
schedule, so using a time format better aligns with release pattern
and makes it easier for users to immediately identify latest
version.
