Background
In Night Slashers: Remake, we journey into a world overrun by monsters. This catastrophe began three months ago on a fateful day. Mutated monsters and zombies suddenly appeared, wreaking havoc everywhere. The military was unable to react in time, leaving everything in ruins. Now, this world is no longer suitable for human habitation. The survivors are slowly losing hope of survival.
However, humans are creatures who always find ways to fight against adversity. Warriors from many different cultures have gathered to save the world. Despite their strength and unwavering will, finding and destroying the source of the disaster remains a daunting task. Therefore, they need your help. Gameplay
Compared to the console version, Storm Trident S.A.’s Night Slashers: Remake retains the core elements of Data East with its horror-punk, gore arcade style. Here, you choose one of the warriors and accompany them on their journey to save the world. Still using the familiar 2D side-scrolling style, you need to defeat all enemies to advance to the next scene or area. At the end of each level, a powerful boss usually appears, so be careful of their attacks.
Additionally, you can experience Night Slashers: Remake with other players through co-op mode. This can be considered the heart of the game, supporting up to four players. However, in the early stages of the game, you won’t be able to unlock all the characters; this requires some time to complete the levels or paying to unlock game content. First, give it a try and see if it’s worth the cost.

If you’ve ever played Night Slashers 1993, you’re probably familiar with the characters in Night Slashers: Remake. Here’s the information about the characters appearing in this remake:
- Jake Hunter: An American monster hunter with bulging muscles and powerful attacks. This character is quite easy to play, suitable for beginners with simple combos.
- Christopher Smith: A British vampire hunter with a dapper appearance, inspired by Van Helsing. He has balanced stats, easy-to-perform combos, and is an all-rounder character.
- Hong Hua: A beautiful Asian female fighter with a fighting style heavily influenced by Eastern martial arts. She can unleash extremely fast attacks through a series of kicks. However, it requires skill to fully utilize her power.
- Liu Feilin: A new character in this remake. Similar to Hong Hua, she possesses a more modern fighting style with powerful aerial attack combos. She is arguably a character with a relatively high difficulty level in this game.
Innovations in graphics and sound
In this return, Night Slashers: Remake offers a fresh visual and auditory experience. While there’s some debate surrounding this innovation, I personally believe it’s a necessary change. Graphically, Night Slashers: Remake boasts more beautiful hand-drawn 2D digital HD graphics compared to the classic 2D pixel art on CRT screens. Characters are now more detailed, and lighting, explosion, and gore effects are clearer and more realistic. This makes it more accessible to new players, but it’s criticized by older players for losing the raw, eerie feel of the original pixel art.
In terms of music, almost all the tracks have been revamped and remixed with higher quality in a modern style. This change also reduces the pressure of the game experience compared to the previous version. Many players underestimate this, saying that although it sounds better, it’s not as satisfying as the original.
