Ming: Rivers of Blood features real-time combat gameplay. At the start of the game, you choose one of six character classes to play as you journey through the world of Ming: Rivers of Blood. With each battle, your character will level up and become stronger, unlocking new and useful features.
One great aspect of Ming: Rivers of Blood’s game design is its companion system. You can recruit companions throughout the game. These companions will fight alongside you, greatly increasing your combat effectiveness, especially against powerful enemies. In the early stages of the game, you can only bring a maximum of one companion. Over time, you can unlock more companion slots to bring more companions, up to a maximum of three.
Character classes in Ming: Rivers of Blood
Overlord
The Overlord is the most balanced character class in Ming: Rivers of Blood. Its power stats are evenly distributed between attack and defense. This class is relatively easy to operate. The Overlord’s skills are as follows:
- Unstoppable: Unleashes a three-tiered chain of attacks on the enemy, dealing massive damage.
- Tide Turning Spear: Throws three chains forward, pulling the enemy towards it before delivering a devastating blow.
- Solar Strike: Leaps into the air and delivers a powerful strike to the ground, dealing area-of-effect damage and knocking enemies into the air.
- Lay Down Arms: Enters a berserk state, continuously attacking the target while simultaneously gaining armor.
Cavalry
The melee class uses long-handled weapons and fights on horseback. The Cavalry in Ming: Rivers of Blood features a relentless attack style, capable of dealing significant damage over time, and possesses various tools to aid in agile movement. The cavalry has a total of 4 skills:
- Spear and Steed: Delivers two vertical strikes to the sides and one horizontal strike forward.
- Sun Breaker Wildfowl: Charges forward on horseback, then thrusts spear, dealing damage and knocking back enemies hit.
- Dust Howl: Strikes the ground forcefully, dealing damage and slowing enemies.
- Azure Dragon Strike: Spins spear continuously, dealing damage to the target. After the attack ends, slashes forward, dealing significant damage and granting shield.
Shadow Dancer
The character class that uses a longsword as their weapon. Shadow Dancer in Ming: Rivers of Blood is designed as a primary damage dealer, quickly eliminating enemies with their skills. Shadow Dancer has 4 skills:
- Sparse Star: Creates a phantom clone that attacks four times along with the main clone.
- Shadow Piercer: Dashes forward, slashing quickly at the enemy while creating two clones that attack simultaneously.
- Shadow Strike: Slashes twice, then creates a clone that knocks the enemy into the air.
- Shadow Summon: Dashes forward while slashing in a circular motion. Then creates a clone that performs the same action a short distance further, pulling surrounding enemies towards the clone and slowing them down.
Wind Walker
The Wind Walker is a ranged character class that uses a dagger as its weapon. This class focuses on dealing damage in bursts and has visually appealing attack animations. The Wind Walker has a total of 5 skills:
- Leliae Breeze: Throws three blades in quick succession towards the target.
- Cloud Pricker: Throws four blades simultaneously towards the target, dealing area-of-effect damage.
- Thunder Crash: Summons four blades around yourself. These blades then automatically seek out and attack the target, dealing area-of-effect damage and stunning enemies within range.
- Windborne Charge: Summons a wind ring, increasing your and your allies’ attack speed.
- Tidal Surge: Creates a matrix of blades, dealing damage to all enemies within range. Additionally, grants you armor for the duration of the ability.
Gunner
The Gunner is a ranged attack character class, wielding a handheld cannon. This class is capable of dealing significant area-of-effect damage while also possessing skills that increase their firing speed and attack power. The Gunner’s skills are as follows:
- Skyward Feather: Fires four consecutive bursts of projectiles, dealing damage upon impact. The fourth burst fires four projectiles.
- Darkflame Shatter: Fires a powerful projectile, dealing area-of-effect damage and slowing all enemies in the affected area.
- Skyrend Shriek: Charges energy, then fires a beam of energy in a straight line, dealing damage and knocking back all enemies hit.
- Feather Flight: Increases attack speed and attack power for a brief moment.
- Feather Strom: Fires three consecutive bursts of powerful projectiles. Each burst contains three projectiles, dealing massive area-of-effect damage and knocking back enemies in the affected area.
Artificer
Artificer uses a crossbow and fights on a mechanical gorilla. This is a rather interesting character class, capable of both dealing high damage and inflicting poison effects on enemies. Artificer has 4 skills as follows:
- Furious Ape: Attacks three times forward, dealing damage and inflicting poison.
- Mountain-Shaking Ape: Commands the ape to roar, firing five arrows in different directions, dealing damage and inflicting poison.
- Ape Sunder: Leaps and slams forward, stunning an area and inflicting poison.
- Rampaging Ape: The ape attacks continuously forward, dealing massive damage and inflicting poison on the target. During the effect, the character gains armor.
